What can you expect from this position?

As the Director, Talent Acquisition, you will serve as a visionary leader and strategic architect of the GTAA’s talent strategy. Reporting to senior HR leadership, you will be accountable for reimagining and executing a forward-thinking approach to how we attract, engage, and hire top talent across all levels of the organization. This role is pivotal in shaping a workforce that reflects our LIFT vision—diverse, future-ready, and aligned with our mission to deliver exceptional airport experiences.

You will lead and inspire a high-performing Talent Acquisition team, drive operational excellence, and embed inclusive, data-driven hiring practices across a complex, unionized, and highly visible public organization. Your mandate includes elevating our employer brand, modernizing recruitment technologies and processes, and partnering closely with business and HR leaders to anticipate workforce needs and deliver scalable, high-impact talent solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership & Transformation
    • Lead the transformation of the Talent Acquisition function as a key pillar of the GTAA’s LIFT program
    • Define and execute a multi-year TA strategy aligned to organizational transformation, DEI goals, and workforce planning
    • Serve as a thought partner to senior leadership on talent strategy and labor market trends
  • Team Building & Leadership
    • Build, develop, and inspire a high-performing TA team focused on service excellence, business partnership, and candidate experience
    • Foster a culture of accountability, continuous learning, and innovation within the team
  • Process Optimization & Technology
    • Assess, redesign, and optimize end-to-end recruitment processes and metrics to improve speed, quality, and compliance
    • Lead the evaluation and adoption of new tools, platforms, and technologies to support data-driven decision-making and candidate experience
  • Employer Brand & Talent Attraction
    • Develop and execute an integrated employer branding strategy that positions the GTAA as a top employer locally and globally
    • Partner with Marketing and Communications to elevate storytelling across channels and communities
  • Stakeholder Engagement & Workforce Planning
    • Act as a strategic partner to HRBPs, DEI, Compensation, and business leaders to align talent strategies with operational goals
    • Collaborate with internal stakeholders on workforce planning, talent pipelines, and proactive sourcing strategies
  • Function Oversight & Reporting
    • Ensure compliance with relevant labor, equity, and privacy regulations
    • Track, analyze, and report on TA metrics and KPIs; deliver actionable insights to executive leadership

This is the role for you, if you have:

  • 10+ years of progressive talent acquisition experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role
  • Experience leading TA in a complex, unionized, or public sector organization strongly preferred
  • Proven track record of designing and leading TA transformations, including technology and process improvement
  • Expertise in employer branding, strategic sourcing, and workforce planning
  • Strong leadership and coaching capabilities with a demonstrated ability to build high-performing teams
  • Knowledge of Canadian labor laws, equity hiring practices, and recruitment compliance standards
  • Experience with ATS systems and HR analytics platforms, UKG preferable
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
  • Ability to obtain and retain a Transportation Security Clearance
