The Role: To support the CNC programmer by developing comprehensive machining plans for aerospace components, Input planning Routes into the MRP System ensuring that hole tolerances, material specifications, and process requirements are clearly defined and achievable. This role ensures that manufacturing processes are efficient, compliant with aerospace standards, and aligned with engineering intent.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create detailed machining process plans based on engineering drawings and CAD models.
  • Define Detail operations such as Machining drilling, reaming, boring, and tapping, with a focus on achieving precise hole tolerances & required surface finishes.
  • Input Detail part supplier specifications to adhere to the design standard
  • Work closely with CNC programmers to ensure machining strategies are aligned with planning documents and production capabilities.
  • Provide input on tooling, fixturing, and machine setup to support accurate and repeatable machining.
  • Review CNC programs to ensure they reflect the planned process and meet tolerance requirements.
  • Identify and document material specifications including aerospace-grade metals and composites (e.g., titanium, aluminium alloys, stainless steel).
  • Ensure materials meet customer and regulatory standards and are properly certified.
  • Coordinate with procurement and stores to ensure timely availability and traceability of materials.
  • Develop and maintain work instructions, setup sheets, and process documentation.
  • Ensure documentation is current, accurate, and compliant with AS9100 and internal quality systems.
  • Support First Article Inspection (FAI) and ensure all planning documentation is audit-ready.
  • Collaborate with Quality Assurance to define inspection criteria for critical features, especially hole tolerances.
  • Support investigations into machining-related non-conformances and assist in implementing corrective actions.
  • Ensure all planning activities comply with NADCAP, AS9100, and customer-specific requirements.
  • Identify and implement improvements to machining processes that enhance accuracy, reduce waste, and improve cycle times.
  • Participate in design for manufacturability (DFM) reviews and provide feedback to engineering teams.
  • Monitor machining performance and integrate lessons learned into future planning.

What We’re Looking For

  • Time Served or Planning Aerospace Components – Supplier Specifications / Surface Treatments
  • Proven experience in Planning aerospace Detail Parts
  • MRP System Input
  • Supplier Specification to Design Intent
  • Knowledge of NADCAP
  • Formal engineering Aerospace qualifications
  • Familiarity with tight tolerances and complex geometries typical aerospace components
