Overview

Element Digital Engineering is a leading provider of specialist engineering simulation, design, and consultancy support to clients across the Aerospace, Automotive, Energy, Built Environment and Chemical Process industries in the UK and internationally. We support our clients with design and performance verification services, operational troubleshooting, and technical safety assessments  using a broad range of tools including experienced judgement and simple hand calculations to detailed simulation and numerical modelling.

 

Thanks to sustained growth in demand for our services, we are looking for a Senior Engineer, Systems Engineering for either our Derby, Bristol or Cambridge offices. 

 

Responsibilities

This role will require you to:

  • Apply understanding of gas turbine product design and development, product systems, sub-systems and interactions
  • Manage technical attribute accounts such as cost, weight and performance at whole engine level and the flow down of attribute targets to sub-systems
  • Have a good understanding of managing change control, preferably proven in a demonstrator environment.
  • Integrate and manage interfaces
  • Have an understanding of systems integration, preferably of gas turbines and of configuration control
  • Integration of systems using Systems Engineering principals including requirements capture, flow down and change management
  • Writing of unit or accessory specifications to meet system requirements
  • Problem resolution experience including ownership of, for example: root cause investigations, problem reports
  • Interact with global design teams to identify and develop work scopes and co-ordinate their engineering activity

Skills / Qualifications

We are looking for someone who:

  • Is experienced in bringing structure to programmes whilst at the same time dealing with ambiguity and innovation
  • Can apply a structured approach to manage technical accounts
  • Good inter-personal and presentation skills
  • Ability to communicate with and influence all levels including senior specialist engineers
  • Relishes working as part of a technically innovative and multi-disciplined, global technical team
  • Holds a degree or post-graduate qualification in a relevant engineering or mathematical discipline
  • Gas turbine experience preferable but not essential
  • An appreciation of the challenges of Hydrogen as a future fuel would be a benefit
  • A track record of working in industry defining and delivering projects involving innovative technologies
  • This role is Full Time, however we would consider applications from individuals looking for part time or reduced hours to suit their lifestyles
  • The position can be based at our Cambridge, Derby or Bristol location with hybrid working on offer
  • Must be capable of clearing BPSS Security Clearence
