Job Summary:

Albers Aerospace is seeking capable engineers with a bent to solve problems using software.  Alongside the other team members, this engineer will implement best practices for software projects, provide novel solutions to hard problems, rapidly develop prototypes, and reduce ideas to practice.  This engineer will also be asked to participate in bidding activities for new business.

 

This engineer will be part of a team building software for various initiatives at Albers using various tools and programming languages.  Some of those initiatives include:

·       DSP and tracking software for a radar system written in Rust

·       Control system and computer vision software for an industrial strength laser, in Microsoft .NET

·       Drone autonomy software in Java

·       Web-based backend for unattended ground sensors in Ruby on Rails

 

Duties/Responsibilities:

·       Design, document, develop, integrate, and test software according to industry best practices.

·       Develop intuitive user interfaces to control and status advance manufacturing systems.

·       Comprehend advanced mathematical formulas and apply them correctly.

·       Participate in requirements development, project estimation, software design/code reviews, algorithm architecture alignment reviews and software performance metrics.

·       Troubleshoot and fix bugs

·       Deploy and manage production systems (DevOps) and participate in on-call responsibilities

·       Verify and comply with engineering documentation standards and test procedures.

Required Skills/Abilities:

·       Good communications and analytical skills required

Preferred Skills/Abilities:

·       Prior experience with radar systems

·       Experience developing industrial systems, including control and safety interlocks

·       Establishing and using dependency management, source control, issue tracking, build, and test facilities in a closed or high security environment

·       Experience with Modeling, Simulation, and Analysis techniques and tools

·       Experience with Modbus, Discrete & Analog Signals

 

Education, Experience and Certifications Required:

Minimum: 

·       Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer/Electrical Engineering or related STEM discipline

·       Must be a U.S citizen. Must possess or be able to obtain a Secret security clearance 

Preferred: 

·       Graduate Degree engineering in Computer Science, Computer/Electrical Engineering or related discipline

·       +3 years of relevant work experience

 

Physical Requirements:

·       Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

·       While primarily an office job, may require time at an integration facility or other location.

·       Must be able to lift or push 25 pounds at times.

·       Ability to traverse integration & test facility.

·       CONUS travel may be required from time to time.

·       Willingness to participate in integration and test of industrial systems, including cable, kitting, installation.
