Airbus Helicopters is the world’s largest helicopter manufacturer and the company’s site at Oxford Airport is Britain’s civil helicopter hub.
AHUK offers considerable experience in helicopter sales, bespoke completions, maintenance and spares support. Its in-house engineering capabilities include design, customisation, installation, flight-testing and certification, as well as technical support, maintenance, training and the supply of spares for civil and military applications.
AHUK is the MoD’s chosen provider of helicopters and maintenance for its No.1 Helicopter Flying School (referred to as MFTS) located in RAF Shawbury (Shropshire) and RAF Valley (Anglesey).
Description/Overall purpose of the Job
We are seeking a strong, visionary leader with exceptional organisational, problem-solving, and communication skills to spearhead the development and leadership of our Site Services and HS&E function across the Airbus Helicopters UK multi-site footprint. This role offers a unique opportunity to shape the future of our operational infrastructure, drive innovation, and ensure the highest standards.
The successful candidate will have responsibility for the following key portfolio areas:
Environment, Health & Safety: Overseeing the site-level EHS leads to ensure a coordinated, fully compliant, and proactive approach to health, safety, and environmental management.
Building Services: Guiding the site-level Building Services teams to ensure a coordinated, compliant, cost-focused, and sustainable approach to both routine and non-routine building services management. This includes working closely with Facilities Management at the Airbus UK level to implement cost-effective, safe, and efficient procedures. This aspect of the role is mostly focused on our £55M HQ site at Kidlington Oxford Airport.
Key Responsibilities:
As the Site Services and HSE Manager you will be instrumental in driving operational excellence and strategic growth:
Set ambitious annual objectives for your team and provide comprehensive support to ensure the successful achievement of those results.
Ensure staffing levels and competence within your team are consistently aligned with strategic goals and operational demands.
Implement and ensure rigorous programme management, meticulous data collection, and insightful reporting across all functions under your remit.
Effectively manage cost centres, leading financial planning and resource allocation for your entire portfolio.
Serve as a key, active member of the Business Management Team, consistently reporting strategic insights and progress to the Senior Leadership Team.
Drive the strategic direction and operational excellence of Health, Safety & Environment, Building Services, and Operational Hangar Support functions.
Champion a culture of continuous improvement and innovation across all responsible areas, fostering forward-thinking strategies and efficient operations.
Collaborate proactively with Airbus UK Facilities Management to ensure the implementation of cost-effective, safe, and highly efficient procedures for all building services.
Oversee site-level HS&E and Building Services leads, guaranteeing coordinated, compliant, and sustainable approaches that uphold the highest standards.
Knowledge and Skills
Essential:
A proven, demonstrable track record of facilities and HS&E leadership
Exceptional ability to lead and collaborate effectively across multi-disciplinary teams.
Proficiency in managing project activities through proactive risk and opportunity management, meticulous mapping and control of critical paths, and vigilant control of variance to time, cost, and quality.
Strong expertise in project financial and contractual management.
Outstanding communication, negotiation, and relationship management skills.
Desirable:
Experience of working in large organisation's such as Airbus
Education, Qualifications or Training
Essential:
Health & Safety qualifications such as NEBOSH and OSHA

The role is based on site at Oxford airport, Kidlington.
