The Role

The CAA, as an independent regulator, negotiates and enters bilateral safety arrangements with other National Aviation Authorities (NAA). They help reduce duplication of oversight activity and aim for mutual acceptance of design, parts, certificates, or operations. We also have an obligation to make recommendations to Government in respect of evolving regulatory requirements and we support the strategic governance and delivery of the cross-CAA rulemaking and policy change.

 

The primary purpose of this role is to undertake technical administration and support of our international safety arrangements, aviation legislation and policy development activity. This will also include liaising with other NAAs, managing the development of agreements, maintenance, continuous improvement of processes and record keeping.

 

 

Key Accountabilities

 

  • Support the development of international safety arrangements, by coordinating and preparing meetings with internal and external stakeholders (including drafting agendas, minutes, diary management) and performing document control and text processing.
  • Monitor and follow up on actions and tasks related to international arrangements with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support the Rulemaking team with preparing meetings and associated documentation, including meeting agenda, distribution of meeting presentation packs, taking notes, actions, decisions and producing minutes.
  • Support and advice on the administration of rulemaking and policy development proposals.
  • Provide administrative and secretariat support to the Rulemaking, Policy, and International Arrangements teams. 
  • Maintain International Arrangements and Rulemaking SharePoint sites.
  • Support and cover tasks performed by other areas of the Policy team.

 

 

About You

A confident communicator and professional in approach both in person and in the written form as you will be collaborating and liaising with a broad group of stakeholders and varying levels of authority and across disciplines and backgrounds. You must have the ability to develop engage confidently and build a rapport with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders. You will be willing to learn and work with a broad spectrum of specialised language and acronyms which are used to ensure responses are of high quality and are in line with CAA strategy and policy.

 

Essential Criteria

  • Experience working in a technical administrative role:
  • Confidently and professionally communicate at all levels, both in person and written.
  • Methodical in approach with accuracy and attention to detail, particularly with meeting deadlines, filing, and tracking of tasks against key deadlines.
  • Confident working with Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel in order to maximise the technology available to deliver the tasks.
  • Confidently collaborate across teams and embrace team working.
  • Able to identify and implement opportunities for improvement in record keeping and rulemaking or agreements processes.

 

 

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience working in an Aviation Technical Administrative role

 

Note:

There will be a requirement of at least one day a week in the office and additional attendance subject to business needs and meetings with key stakeholders. There may also be occasional travel to CAA or Department for Transport offices in London

 

Relocation & Property: The CAA will be relocating from Aviation House (Our Gatwick Office) to new premises in a few years’ time. Our move is driven by strategic, operational, and environmental considerations and is expected to be within a 15-mile radius of Aviation House. We are working with colleagues and visitors to understand what our needs are before we start our property search. We do not expect to move before 2028.
