Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
- Own production quality performance by managing in-process inspections, final acceptance, nonconformance (NCR) and MRB workflows, and reducing rework, scrap, and cycle time.
- Lead root cause and corrective action; prevent recurrence through standard work, PFMEA updates, SPC controls, and error-proofing.
- Manage audits and compliance by maintaining an AS9100-compliant QMS aligned with FAA/EASA Part 21 production approval requirements
- Lead internal audits, support customer and third-party audits, and ensure special processes meet applicable standards.
- Coordinate regulatory obligations under Part 21 by partnering with Quality/Regulatory leadership on configuration control, conformity inspections, and ensure proper issuance and retention of inspection and traceability records.
- Drive data-based improvements by tracking and improving escape rates, and audit findings; publish dashboards and prioritise projects by impact on SQDC.
- Collaborate with supplier quality and sourcing on incoming quality, supplier escapes, and approval/oversight of special process sources; ensure supplier conformity to AS9100 and regulatory flow-downs relevant to Part 21.
- Lead and develop the quality team by coaching inspectors and quality engineers, setting goals, and building capability in RCCA, SPC, MSA, audit readiness, and regulatory compliance; reinforce a speak-up, stop-the-line culture.
- Interface with customers and regulators to communicate quality status, risks, and mitigations; ensure timely closure of corrective actions with a zero-escape mindset.
- Manage risk and change control, process changes, and new product introductions; validate controls via capability studies and layered process audits, ensuring changes preserve conformity to approved design data.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality, or a related field and/or equivalent experience
- Significant experience in manufacturing quality (aerospace strongly preferred)
- Experience working within FAA/EASA Part 21 production environments and Production Approval Holder.
- Clear written and verbal communication; comfortable presenting to customers, auditors, and leadership.
Desired Characteristics
- Competence with MES/ERP, QMS, and digital quality tools; strong data analysis and dashboarding skills.
- Basic ITAR/EAR considerations.
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams, influence without authority, and develop talent.
