Job Description:

Satair is looking for a Part 145 Chief Quality Inspector to join our team based in Miami, FL. You will be part of the team responsible for the overall operation of the inspection process of Red Channel parts and repaired items. You will plan, direct and execute inspection standards, methods, and procedures used by the Repair Station and ensure compliance with all FAA regulations and manufacturer's recommendations.

Your working environment:

Our Miami site is located close to downtown Miami and only 10 miles from Miami International Airport (MIA). This location supports all of our Americas customers, but is crucial to our Latin American operations due to its close proximity to Latin America and the Caribbean. This site manufactures about 38,000 certified Eaton hose assemblies a year. Additionally, our Miami site is the home of the regional FAA-145 repair station, which was established in March of 2017.

Your challenges:

Quality Management (40%)

  • Establishing the policies and procedures that govern the development, revision, and distribution of this manual.

  • Establishing the standards and procedures to qualify and survey vendors/suppliers.

  • Administration of the Internal Auditing and Surveillance Programs.

  • Administration of SATAIR’s FAA Approved Training Program

  • Representing the Repair Station during audits by outside agencies.

  • Administration of the Corrective Action/Preventative Action program. Directing, planning and establishing details of Quality Control, including standards, specifications, procedures and methods, in accordance with latest revision OEM, Specifications and Bulletins, FAA approved customer Standards and Specifications, current FAA FARs and ADs and other approved data. Assisting all departments with matters pertaining to Quality and Inspection criteria and interpretation of FAA FARs, ADs and ACs.

  • Analyzing customer, FAA and auditing agencies’ feedback data/reports to evaluate the quality of procedures and products of the Repair Station.

  • Directing, planning and establishing details of Quality Control, including standards, specifications, procedures and methods, in accordance with latest revision OEM, Specifications and Bulletins, FAA approved customer Standards and Specifications, current FAA FARs and ADs and other approved data.

  • Assisting all departments with matters pertaining to Quality and Inspection criteria and interpretation of FAA FARs, ADs and ACs

  • The Chief Inspector, in conjunction with the Quality Manager, ensures maintenance activities are accomplished in compliance with the quality control system established at SATAIR.

  • Ensuring that all repair station maintenance and operations are accomplished within SATAIR’s FAA accepted RSQM, and consistent with its Certificate, Ratings, Ops Specs, Capability List and applicable regulatory agency guidelines, such as the EASA, CAAC, etc.

  • Ensuring that the Capability List is current, including making revisions.

  • Establishing and maintaining processes to ensure the airworthiness of all components, and constituent parts approved for return to service.

  • Coordinating with the FSDO for activities that require approval or acceptance of the FAA.

  • Facilitating FAA surveillance activities.

  • Assist the Manager - Quality to establish and implement the independent quality system with its administration to ensure that the activities carried out in the organization are in compliance with the applicable EN9110, AS/EN 9120, ISO 9001, FAA AC 00-56A and the regulatory requirements, relevant procedures and instructions that are called out by the approved documents.

Quality Surveillance (40%)

  • Maintaining the record keeping system for reports and records required by 14 CFR 145.219 and 14 CFR 145.221.

  • Monitoring, oversight and improvement of all quality system policies/procedures to achieve and sustain all required certifications. Enforcing compliance with SATAIR’s RSQM, through utilization of established and proven quality audit and corrective action systems and procedures.

  • Ensuring contract maintenance follows all SATAIR procedures, policies, and regulatory requirements and that lists of contract functions and facilities are maintained.

  • Ensuring that any change to the maintenance functions SATAIR contracts out receives FAA approval before the effective date of the change.

  • Responsible and has authority for the Scrap Parts program.

  • Has authority for Tool Calibration Program.

  • Has authority and is responsible for Technical Data processes.

  • Maintaining the roster of management and/supervisory personnel. 14 CFR 145.161 (a) (1)(4) & (b), of inspection personnel and personnel authorized to sign a maintenance release for approving an article for return to service in accordance with 14 CFR 145.161 (a) (2)(3)(4)& (b).

  • Providing guidance and supervision to inspection personnel.

  • Administration of the warranty program.

  • Analyzing customer, FAA and auditing agencies’ feedback data/reports to evaluate the quality of procedures and products of the Repair Station.

  • Ensuring Inspection personnel are qualified for tasks performed and that proper procedures, manual references, materials, and tools are used in accomplishing work. 14 CFR 145.155 Acting as the liaison with all customer, subcontractor and supplier quality assurance and quality control representatives. Ensuring all required reports (Suspected Unapproved Parts, SDRs, etc.) are filled out and filed with the FAA and coordinate reporting with the customer. Ensuring proper inspection of Parts, supplies, and other incoming material to the repair station.

  • Ensuring accomplishment of in-process inspections specified in the work package or technical data. Ensuring accomplishment of final tests and final inspections as required prior for approval for return to service. Ensuring inspections are properly performed and that proper inspection records, reports, and forms are properly completed before approving any product for return to service.

  • Ensuring the proficiency of inspection personnel.

  • Responsible for RII Program per customer requirements, when applicable. Overseeing the completion of all customer records.

Project Management (15%)

  • Lead and drive small projects to improve the process efficiency with the support of the global process community

Additional Responsibilities (5%)

  • Assist with the coordination of Quality training activities whenever such activities occur - to ensure Quality personnel obtain and maintain appropriate acknowledgement.

  • Work in backup capacity within the warehouse area by arrangement with the Manager Quality.

Your boarding pass:

  • Minimum 5 years of aviation experience with at least one year in quality assurance function preferably with a background as aircraft mechanic or engineer.

  • Current FAA Airframe & Powerplant License (A&P)

  • Well versed in airworthiness authorities' regulatory requirements, such as, FAR145, EASA145, CCAR145 and SAR145.

  • Knowledge of AS9100/AS9120/ISO9001 quality system requirements.

  • Associate degree or two years of college / technical training in the one of the following disciplines preferred:

    • Aerospace Engineering

    • System Engineering

    • Electro Mechanical

    • Industrial Engineering

    • Mechanical Engineering

    • Drafting

Physical Requirements:

  • Vision: able to see and read computer screen and other electronic equipment with screens, able to read documents, reports and engineering drawings.

  • Hearing: able to hear to participate in conversations in person and via teleconference or phone and to hear sounds on production floor including safety warnings or alarms.

  • Speaking: able to speak in conversations and meetings, deliver information and participate in communications.

  • Sitting: able to sit for long periods of time in meetings, working on computer.

  • Standing: able to stand for discussions in offices or on production floor.

  • Travel: able to travel independently

  • Walking (include routine walking such as to a shared printer to retrieve documents): able to walk through office and production areas including uneven surfaces.

  • Personal Protective Equipment required: Required PPE includes, but is not limited to, Safety Shoes, Safety Glasses, Hearing Protection, Respirators/Masks, and/or Protective Gloves as required by site and/or customer site

  • Administrative position only PPE required: Steel-toed shoes are required for all shop floor visit, appropriate hearing/eye protection may also be required when visiting the shop floor.
