Job Type:                              Permanent, 37 hours per week, working a 4-day week over a 5-day        operational week.

​Brookhouse Aerospace is a prominent name within the Aerospace Sector, providing Advanced Composite and Metal Components for Civil & Defence Aerospace applications. We are seeking a talented and experienced Composites Manufacturing Engineer to join our dynamic engineering team.

Job Description: As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will play a key role in the development and optimisation of manufacturing processes for materials used in aerospace applications. You will be responsible for ensuring that our components are produced efficiently, cost-effectively, and to the highest quality standards. This position requires a strong technical background in Composites materials, process engineering, and a deep understanding of aerospace manufacturing requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and optimise manufacturing processes for materials and components, ensuring alignment with engineering specifications and industry standards.
  • Collaborate with design, engineering, and production teams to develop and refine composites manufacturing methods, including layup, curing, machining, and bonding processes.
  • Design and implement tooling, fixtures, and equipment required for composite manufacturing, ensuring they meet production and quality requirements.
  • Conduct process trials and validate new manufacturing methods to ensure they meet performance, cost, and quality objectives.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve manufacturing issues related to materials, processes, and equipment.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance manufacturing efficiency, reduce waste, and improve product quality.
  • Work closely with quality assurance teams to ensure compliance with AS9100 and other relevant aerospace quality standards.
  • Prepare and maintain detailed documentation of manufacturing processes, including work instructions, process specifications, and quality control plans.
  • Stay up to date with the latest advancements in composite materials and manufacturing technologies and integrate new innovations into production processes.
  • Provide technical support and training to production staff on composite manufacturing processes and best practices.

Requirements:

  • Degree or an HNC with Advanced Apprenticeship to NVQ level 3 in a relevant subject

  • ​3+ years of experience in composites materials manufacturing, preferably in the aerospace industry.

  • ​Strong understanding of composite materials, including carbon fibre, fiberglass, and advanced polymers.

  • ​Proficiency in CAD software for tooling and fixture design.

  • ​Experience with composite manufacturing processes such as hand layup, automated fibre placement (AFP), resin transfer moulding (RTM), and autoclave curing.

  • ​Knowledge of aerospace quality standards, including AS9100, NADCAP, and FAA regulations.

  • ​Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex manufacturing issues.

  • ​Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
