What can you expect from this position?
Reporting to the Associate Director, Deicing Operations, this role is responsible for building and leading a world-class deicing team dedicated to delivering safe, efficient, and reliable operations that uphold the highest standards of service for the travelling public.
In this position, you will oversee the implementation and execution of the GTAA Aircraft Ground Deicing Program and Mitigation Plan, ensuring full compliance with regulatory requirements and seamless alignment with the ground icing programs of all carriers operating at the GTAA.
As Manager, Deicing Operations, you will:
- Lead the development and delivery of the GTAA Aircraft Ground Deicing Program and Mitigation Plan, ensuring compliance with all customer and carrier ground icing programs.
- Ensure adherence to Transport Canada regulations and all applicable local, provincial, and federal requirements related to deicing and environmental compliance.
- Oversee manpower planning to maintain adequate staffing, facilities, systems, and equipment for safe and efficient deicing operations during all winter conditions.
- Drive operational excellence by implementing processes that enhance safety, efficiency, and resiliency, meeting or exceeding airport launch capacity.
- Coordinate and communicate all deicing activities with the GTAA and airport community to minimize operational disruptions.
- Manage operational effectiveness, including contract services, staffing, and equipment productivity, ensuring cost efficiency and high performance.
- Utilize data-driven insights to analyze operational issues, identify trends, and make informed decisions that improve processes and mitigate risks.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement, ensuring compliance, safety, and operational reliability while adapting to changing priorities and emerging issues.
- Build and develop a high-performing team, providing coaching, feedback, and career development opportunities to support organizational goals.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including Labour Relations, Union representatives, and contracted service providers, to ensure seamless service delivery.
This is the role for you, if you have:
- 5 years of experience in an airport environment or similar with demonstrated experience in serving a large and complex customer base with a union and non-unionized workforce.
- 3 years of leadership experience with direct people management, ideally within a matrix organization and multi-operational environment. Strong focus on performance metrics, with solid knowledge of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and Service Level Agreements (SLAs) to ensure compliance and operational excellence.
- Demonstrated proficiency in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint) with strong analytical skills to interpret data and drive informed decisions addressing current and future operational needs.
- Proven ability to solve problems in a fast-paced environment while building and nurturing effective relationships across internal teams and external stakeholders.
- Valid G Class Driver’s License.
- Ability to obtain a D/A AVOP license.
- Post-secondary degree or diploma or a combination of education and relevant experience.
- Ability to obtain and retain a Transportation Security Clearance.
