Based at our Luton manufacturing plant you’ll do just that. Established in 1993, GKN Aerospace in Luton is a world leader in commercial and military ice protection systems and transparencies. Offering a full range of capabilities; design, analysis, testing, certification and manufacture of electro-thermal ice protection, military fast jet canopies and flight deck windows to over 20 programmes including: Boeing 787, Dreamliner, Airbus A320, AgustaWestland, AW101, Eurofighter Typhoon and Lockheed, Martin F-22 Raptor. Our customers include Boeing, Airbus, Lockheed Martin, Bell Helicopters, Textron, BAE Systems, Pratt & Whitney, Leonardo. Our Luton site is home to 370+ employees and onsite facilities including onsite parking, food hub and vending machines.
We’re looking for a Human Resources Business Partner to join the HR team based at our Luton Manufacturing site.
The Site HRBP will support Site Operations goals, strategies and to identify opportunities to increase organisational effectiveness and productivity. Reporting the HR Manager, the Human Resources Business Partner carries out responsibilities in the following areas: employment law and right to work compliance, performance management, supporting and championing early careers.
The role will help build positive, pro-active relationships with managers across the Luton site and work with them to deliver the plans and priorities within their business area. Additionally, the successful candidate will ensure HR Operational activities are effectively deployed and managed, supporting HR Projects and initiatives within the business.
Core operational hours are Monday to Thursday, 07:30 to 16:30, and Friday, 07:30 to 12:30. Flexibility around working hours can be discussed during the interview process.
• Point of escalation for investigation for employee appeals, concerns of compliance issues, working conditions, disciplinary actions, employee and applicant appeals, discrimination allegations and grievances
• Responsible for employment law updates and manage right to work compliance across the site
• Support and champion early careers initiatives, be point of contact for the site and proactively network and outreach to local schools and colleges
• Support employee engagement activities across the site
• Participate in developing department goals, objectives and systems
• Maintain compliance with local employment laws
• Support any occupational health issues / workers comp claims or other local return to work / re-integration processes
• Conduct various research and/or special projects and prepares reports and summaries
• Assist HR department with projects and initiatives as required
To help us make a difference, you’ll bring your passion and talent for what you do along with the following skills, experience, qualifications and attributes:
Essential:
• Experience in an HR Business Partner or HR Advisor role, providing HR support across a diverse and multi-functional population.
• Experience of employment law, HR best practices and employee relations
• Experience in interpreting HR data and providing insights to support business decisions.
• Experience with HR Information Systems
• Proven experience in stakeholder management, with the ability to influence and communicate effectively at all levels
Desirable:
• CIPD qualification (or working towards one).
• Experience in industrial relations, including working with trade unions and employee representatives.
• Experience in inputting payroll data and performing accuracy audits
