Description

Aviation Recruitment experts Optime are seeking an experienced Aircraft De-icer to join a respected team at Luton Airport for the upcoming summer season. This is a full-time position with overtime opportunities.

The primary role of the aircraft deicer is to remove ice from the aircraft. The individual in this position inspects the aircraft for ice and for remaining frozen contamination after the deicing has been performed. He or she sprays the airplane down with the deicing fluid, which is usually made of glycol.

PLEASE NOTE: APPLICANTS MUST HOLD A FULL VALID UK DRIVING LICENCE.

What's on offer:

  • Rate of pay: £12.50 per hour
  • Shift Pattern and Hours: TYPE: Seasonal | SHIFT HOURS: Monday to Sunday (Any time between 3:00AM and 2:00AM, based on 7-day operations.) The normal working hours are 30-hours per week.
  • Shifts: Example times below
  • Weekly Pay (every Friday)
  • Temp to Perm (performance-based)

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Ensure a safe working environment during all de-/anti-icing operations; follow all IDS company policies, procedures and safety protocols.
  • Inspect aircraft surfaces for ice, snow or frozen contamination both before and after de-icing operations.
  • Apply de-icing and anti-icing fluids to aircraft surfaces in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Participate in the planning and preparation of de-/anti-icing events, including checks on equipment, trucks, and servicing of fuel/glycol supplies.
  • Ensure proper shutdown of de-icing pads: complete thorough logbooks, paperwork, record any maintenance issues, report them promptly to maintenance teams, and follow proper shutdown procedures for all equipment.
  • Safely operate heavy equipment and vehicles in an airport airside environment, maintaining full situational awareness of hazards (weather, noise, moving vehicles, fuel/fumes) and wearing appropriate PPE.
  • Perform physical tasks including stooping, kneeling, bending, climbing ladders and working at heights (in excess of 15 ft) where necessary.
  • Maintain accurate records and data: treat all information as confidential, and demonstrate strong written, verbal and computer skills (intermediate level).
  • Full PPE will be provided

Requirements:

  • Full UK Manual Driving Licence (mandatory)
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Good verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Right to Work in the UK
  • Five-year fully checkable reference history
  • Ability to pass a Criminal Record Check (CRC)
