Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the entire avionics department in Germany, overseeing a team of 15 to 30 engineers and principal engineers.
- Build and lead a high-performing, multidisciplinary team capable of executing the full development lifecycle of avionics systems.
- Define system requirements and architecture for avionics, communication, and power systems. Lead breadboard activities, PCB design, FPGA programming, integration, testing, and qualification for make elements, and manage supplier development for buy elements.
- Ensure power system design supports mission requirements, closing power budgets and validating concept of operations.
- Lead the design and development of avionics equipment, including flight control systems and communication systems.
- Develop prototypes, conduct rigorous testing at board and equipment levels, and address issues through iterative testing.
- Prepare comprehensive design documentation, including ICDs, BOMs, Assembly Procedures, design verification plans, and test reports.
- Stay current with industry trends and continuously enhance knowledge and skills through professional development.
What We’re Looking For:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience (6-10+ years) in avionics equipment design, with a focus on aerospace applications and leadership experience, ideally leading multinational teams.
- Proficiency in avionics design tools and software.
- Strong understanding of space relevant standards (ECSS, MIL-STD, NASA-HBK) and regulations.
- Knowledge of safety-critical design principles and familiarity with Reliability, Availability, Maintainability & Safety (RAMS) aspects (FMECA, FDIR, etc.).
- Hands-on mentality at testing and problem debugging.
- Experience with EEE & EMI/EMC is a plus.
- Ability to travel to a designated location in Germany every two weeks for two to four days if not based locally, with all business travel expenses covered.
