What you can expect from this position:

Reporting to the Manager, Ground Transportation Operations, you will provide operational and logistical support for Ground Transportation Operations, ensuring curbside and parking services run smoothly and in compliance with airport standards. The role will also plan and maintain operational documentation, monitor traffic and contractor performance, coordinate responses to events and emergencies, and foster collaboration with internal and external stakeholders. The position also supports performance tracking, training needs, fleet management, and contract administration to drive continuous improvement in groundside operations.

As Groundside Operations Support & Coordination Lead, you will:

  • Ensure curbside and parking operations are executed effectively by developing schedules, deployment plans, and procedural documentation.
  • Proactively track inbound traffic, curbside congestion, and contractor performance to identify service disruptions and implement corrective actions.
  • Update and manage operational materials to reflect current practices, technologies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Act as a liaison with internal teams, contractors, consultants, and vendors to support curbside and parking operations.
  • Assist in planning and executing operational responses for events, construction impacts, seasonal changes, and emergency scenarios.
  • Collect and analyze operational data to identify trends, gaps, and areas for improvement; maintain accurate timekeeping and scheduling records.
  • Provide input on training needs, procedural updates, and resource requirements based on operational feedback.
  • Coordinate fleet vehicle maintenance and provide logistical support for Ground Transportation Operations and other departments.
  • Assist in RFP development, contract administration, and ensure compliance with service standards.
  • Prepare and deliver operational briefings, attend planning meetings, and communicate changes in procedures to stakeholders and contractors.

This unionized position is classified at the Band 7 level, with an hourly wage of $45.97, based on a 37.5 hour work week. As part of the recruitment process, you will be required to complete a test.

This is the role for you, if you have:

  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in airport, airline, or ground handler operations, or similar roles with comparable scale and complexity.
  • Experience implementing and monitoring data and contract management systems in an operational environment, is an asset.
  • Familiarity with groundside transportation and parking operations, is an asset.
  • Experience in dispatch, call center, security, or operations management environments, is an asset.
  • Valid Ontario Provincial Driver’s License.
  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in Aviation Management, Business Management, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Transportation Security Clearance.

Knowledge and skills you bring, that set-you up for success:

  • Strong understanding of Toronto Pearson Airport layout, including groundside roadways, curbside zones, parking areas, and terminal access points.
  • Knowledge of operational systems and data platforms (e.g., Microsoft tools, ACDM, Gentec, Zetron) used in groundside transportation.
  • Familiarity with GTAA Airport Emergency Plan (AEP), Traffic on Land Side of Airports Regulations (TLSARs), and licensing rules for commercial vehicle dispatch and curbside operations.
  • Awareness of construction-related regulations and their impact on curbside and parking operations.
  • Understanding of roles and responsibilities of airport stakeholders, including air carriers, enforcement agencies, CATSA, tenants, contractors, and passengers.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and coordinate resources effectively during high-demand or emergency situations.
  • Skilled in preparing detailed reports, operational summaries, and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to interpret and apply legislation, airport regulations, and operational standards; conduct audits and inspections to support continuous improvement.
  • Strong decision-making skills in ambiguous or rapidly evolving environments, with effective communication and conflict-resolution abilities.
  • Proficient in analyzing operational data to support planning and collaborating with internal teams and external partners to maintain strong working relationships.
