A vacancy has arisen for a Flight Sergeant (A Eng Tech / Eng Air Mgr) to serve as FS Engineering Support to the 4FTS Chief Air Engineer to the Delivery Duty Holder (CAE (DDH))/Military Continuing Airworthiness Manager (MilCAM) based at RAF Valley on Full-Time Reserve Service (Limited Commitment) (FTRS(LC)) Terms and Conditions of Service (TCoS), with an initial proposed start date of 06 July 2026 (or earlier/later, subject to candidate status).

The successful candidate will be responsible to the 4FTS CAE (DDH)/MilCAM, for the following tasks and responsibilities:

  • Standards and Practices. Undertake Approved Maintenance Organisation (AMO) health checks and assurance visits to ensure engineering standards and practices are being upheld. Promote Continuous Improvement and good engineering discipline throughout the 4FTS Defence Air Environment.
  • Provision of technical advice. Provide technical advice to the CAE (DDH) to assist in the provision of assurance to the DDH and CAE (ODH).
  • Flight Safety and Occurrence Reporting. Promote the Defence Aviation Error Management System throughout the AMOs and encourage personnel to report air safety occurrences including errors, hazards and near misses. Assist in finding root cause analysis of Texan and Hawk TMk2 engineering related DASORs. Undertake Trend analysis from Occurrence Reports and present findings. Assist the Unit as an Occurrence Investigator when required.
  • MAM-P Authorisations. On behalf of the Appointed Level K, manage the MAM-P engineering authorisations system across both the ‘on-aircraft’ and ‘off-aircraft’ domains at RAF Valley.
  • Mil CAMO Quality System Coordinator. Support the MilCAMs for Hawk T2 and Texan by assisting their Quality Managers in managing oversight and progression of Mil CAMO Quality Occurrence Reports. Assist the Hawk T2 CAMO Quality Manager in the undertaking of their duties as required. As a Nominated Auditor, assist the Hawk T2 CAMO Quality Manager with the conduct of Hawk T2 Self Audits, Task Audits and participate in shadow audits as directed by the 4FTS MilCAM.
  • CAE(DDH)/Mil CAM representative. Represent the 4FTS CAE(DDH)/MilCAM in various forums and meetings, including Airworthiness Working Groups. Carry out other activities as tasked by the 4FTS CAE(DDH)/MilCAM, DCAM and SO3 CAMO.

It is essential that the candidate is well organised and possesses excellent interpersonal skills, as close liaison across the Whole Force, and use of influence is crucial to successful working on 4FTS at RAF Valley. Additionally, they should have a good knowledge of human factors and error management, be computer literate and be confident in using MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Teams.
