Job Description:
Airbus UpNext Spain has the ambition to deliver a disruptive and innovative project to contribute to the evaluation of an innovative more electric architecture with the aim to provide aircraft non propulsive energy (NPE).
Test Bench Mechanical Design Engineer position is within the Airbus UpNext subsidiary in Spain (in Getafe).
This job comes with a limited contract linked to the deliverable of the demonstrator - end of December 2027.
Starting date - ASAP.
Mission
The demonstrator will integrate complex systems including electrical energy storage, electrical power generation, distribution and conversion, fuel storage and distribution, pneumatic systems, thermal management systems and control and monitoring systems within a ground test facility.
Those systems will include novel technologies for aviation, and will be integrated in a new system architecture with new operational constraints.
The role of the Mechanical Designer and Test Engineer will be to lead the development (design, procurement, manufacturing, installation, commissioning and maintenance) of the mechanical equipment (structures & frames, pipings, interfaces, etc.) required to integrate the systems within the test facility.
Your main tasks and responsibilities will include:
✔ Design test bench mechanical architecture, layout and physical integration (equipment allocation, piping routing, interfaces, etc)
✔ Define the strategy to integrate and commission the mechanical equipment.
✔ Define the digital mock-up, drawings and associated documentation with all necessary design and installation data to specify the mechanical equipment..
✔ Scout key mechanical installation equipment supplier(s) and steer the corresponding activities: m procurement, manufacturing, installation, commissioning and in-service support.
✔ Ensure implementation of the electrical safety measures, incl. required PPEs and tools.
✔ Support to test activities and test bench maintenance and configuration management.
✔ Design and develop mechanical installations to put in place and allocate all the multi-disciplinar items of a multi systems test bench which includes electrical racks, turbomachinery, batteries, kerosene storage and some other items.
The responsibilities and the technical scope of the job might evolve according to the agile working environment of the project, so being flexible is important.

You are able to demonstrate the following skills and competencies:
At least 5 years’ experience in mechanical design and installation activities
CATIA guru
Proven hands-on and solution oriented attitude
Experience in High Voltage batteries mechanical installation know how
Proven background on turbomachinery, Internal Combustion Engines and electrical racks installations
Expert in using mechanical tools
Team-Player mindset.
Ability to work under pressure.
