A vacancy has arisen for a Sgt - TG 1 (A Tech M, A Tech AV or A Tech W) or TG 13 (SE Tech) - to serve as SNCO AEAF Vocational Assessor at RAF Cosford on Full Time Reserve Service (Limited Commitment) Terms and Conditions of Service (TCoS), with an initial proposed start date of not before the 25 May 2026 (or later, subject to candidate status).

Job Description

  • The post holder will be responsible, through the respective unit Line Management, to OC Aeronautical Engineering Apprenticeship Flight (OC AEAF) at RAF Cosford to ensure RAF TG1 & 13 Level 2 and 3 Aeronautical Engineering Apprentices complete all aspects of their respective Apprenticeship Standards.
  • Responsible for the welfare, progress reviews, assessment and professional development of RAF TG1 & 13 Level 2 and 3 Aeronautical Engineering Apprentices. The incumbent will be located at Cosford with some opportunities for remote working; there will be a requirement for travel to and overnight stays at other Main Operating Bases throughout the UK.
  • Planning and administration of face to face and remote progress reviews to assess and establish learner progression against the completion of their Apprenticeship and set new targets.
  • Undertake the assessment and cross mapping of evidence for the work-based qualification required for the learner to complete the qualifications required by their Apprenticeship.
  • Assisting Apprentices, in preparing for their Apprenticeship End Point Assessment; providing access to assessment material, helping them understand the assessment criteria, reviewing draft EPA material e.g. portfolios of evidence and written assessments and providing feedback prior to formal submission.
  • Assisting in the planning, preparation and facilitation of EPA workshops.
  • Acting as a focal point for EPA enquiries from Apprentices and Line Managers etc
  • Independently assess Apprentices undertaking their Apprenticeship End Point Assessment.
  • Establish and maintain a high level of understanding of the component parts of the Apprenticeship Frameworks and Standards.
  • Ensure all paper and electronic documents and records are updated, reviewed, stored and kept secure as necessary.
  • Regular review and update of Apprenticeship assessment accreditation, practices, processes and documentation.
  • Regular review of training within the respective schools to ensure compatibility with the Apprenticeship Standards, and to identify consistent, suitable and sufficient performance evidence opportunities to satisfy the requirements of the Apprenticeship Standards.
  • Participate in Quality Management System audits. (training will be provided).
  • Train users to operate electronic e-portfolio systems e.g. One File (training will be provided).
  • The post holder may be required to receive training related to their specialization at RAF Cosford, civilian training agencies and at MOB training establishments for the platform(s) their apprenticeship learners are employed on.
