Project Kuiper is an initiative to increase global broadband access through a constellation of 3,236 satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO). As a Sr. CMF specialist on our team, you will be responsible for ensuring our products meet quality levels set in specification documents agreed to by ID, PD and production teams. You will own product and sample evaluation prior to mass production. You will work with designers, engineers, and suppliers to ensure CMF feasibility and appropriate trade-offs.
In this role, you will:
1. Color Material Finish support
2. Sample checking for builds
3. Sample tracking
4. Color Matching and material adjustment for achievement RF performance
5. Create CMF documentation across all programs
6. Create LED lighting behavior documentation across all programs
7. Creation of Step/Gap documentation
8. Create cosmetic inspection guidelines
9. Investigate new materials and methods for our product family
- • Bachelor’s degree in Industry design or related
- • 5+ years of CMF related experience on consumer products
- • Able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, able to track many moving parts.
- • Proficient in using spectrophotometer, gloss meter ability to analyze read out, share results, trouble shoot which values need adjustment
- • Experience in using Creo for importing CAD files, Adobe illustrator for creating CMF documentation.
- • Ability to take macro photography of samples when needed.
- • Understand end-to-end process of ensuring products closely match ID intent for colors, finishes and materials. Ability to troubleshoot with vendors and ensure quality, cost and schedule are maintained. extremely detail oriented and ability to insist on highest standards.
- • Familiarity with variables in resin that may affect color accuracy: metamerism, additives, inorganic vs organic dies etc.
- • Familiar with resins (PC, PCABS, TPU, TPE etc), understanding of injection molding defects and troubleshooting to limit blush, flowmarks, sink and other defects called out in cosmetic inspection guidelines.
- • Familiar with Paints/Coatings-, plantings-e-coating, metallic and mica flake, various effects, troubleshooting color matching, and ensuring quality.

- • 100% color acuity vision- 100% pass for Farnsworth Munsell color test. test must be with physical samples, not screen.
- • Master’s degree
- • Knowledge in Hydrophobic film and coatings- PTFE or alternates
- • Good program management skills
- • Experienced in creating specification document
- • Be familiar with file management system (Agile)
