Role Overview:

We are seeking a Construction & Design Project Manager to represent the owner (an international airline) in overseeing the design and construction of a new premium spaces at Fiumicino Airport (FCO). This is a high-visibility, fast-paced project requiring coordination with airport authorities, design teams, and contractors. The role is embedded within the airline’s program team and will serve as the primary liaison with Aeroporti di Roma (ADR) and other key stakeholders.

Preferred Experience:

  • Prior experience working at FCO or with ADR (Aeroporti di Roma) is highly desirable.
  • Experience managing airline tenant improvement projects or capital programs within airport environments.
  • Familiarity with Italian building codes, permitting processes, and airport security protocols.


Key Responsibilities:

1. Project & Stakeholder Management

  • Act as the airline’s on-site representative for all construction and design activities.
  • Lead weekly construction meetings and ensure accurate documentation and follow-up.
  • Coordinate with ADR for plan reviews, design approvals, phasing, and logistics.
  • Oversee submittals, RFIs, permit logs, and closeout documentation.
  • Collaborate with internal PMT leadership on staffing, reporting, and future project pursuits.

2. Project Startup & Controls

  • Establish workflows using tools such as Procore, SAP, or equivalent platforms.
  • Manage project directories, contact lists, and distribution protocols.
  • Coordinate pre-construction and construction meetings with all stakeholders.
  • Track project budget, schedule, and procurement milestones.
  • Ensure compliance with airline and airport submission/approval processes.

3. Design Oversight

  • Schedule and lead design coordination meetings with stakeholders and consultants.
  • Track design deliverables, submittals, and action items.
  • Support the airline in aligning brand standards with local design and regulatory requirements.
  • Review and manage MEP, FS, and architectural packages at each milestone.
  • Maintain logs for RFIs, submittals, change orders, and approvals.

4. Construction Oversight

  • Engage and manage subconsultants and contractors.
  • Monitor construction progress, budget forecasts, and change management.
  • Coordinate payment applications, invoice reviews, and financial reporting.
  • Ensure timely delivery of O&M manuals and project closeout documentation.
  • Schedule and lead substantial completion and final walk-throughs.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, or related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in construction project management, preferably in airport or transportation infrastructure.
  • Strong knowledge of Italian construction regulations and permitting.
  • Proficiency in project management software (e.g., Procore, SAP, MS Project).
  • Excellent communication skills in English; Italian language proficiency is a strong plus.
