POSITION OVERVIEW:

  • Position Type: Full-time, On Site
  • Location: 812 Burton Road in Vars
  • Compensation Starting at: $27.65/hour
  • Security Clearance Requirements: Due to the nature of our work, all employees must be able to obtain a clearance with the Government of Canada. For this position, you will be required to obtain a Level 2 - Secret clearance which requires a minimum of 10 years residency in Canada.

The role of the Metal Fabricator & Painter is to ensure all duct vent projects and painted components are completed on schedule and to a level of excellence that meets or exceeds Raymond EMC’s Quality Control specifications. This position is responsible for both fabricating vents and performing high‑quality painting of duct vents, brass vents, and custom‑fabricated materials. The role also includes maintaining a safe and clean work environment in the vent and paint booth areas, ensuring tools are properly maintained, and keeping the vent lead updated on inventory needs, equipment requirements, or delays in production.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Legally entitled to work in Canada.
  • Willingness to undergo a criminal background check.
  • Ability to obtain a Level 2 (Secret) Government of Canada Security Clearance (This requires a minimum of 10 years residency in Canada).
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 3-5 years' experience as a fabricator or a similar role in a manufacturing, fabrication & construction environment. 
  • Strong technical knowledge of metal fabrication techniques, tools, and machinery.  
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.  
  • Able to stand for long periods, lift heavy objects, and work in a variety of physical positions.   
  • Attention to detail & accuracy.  
  • Strong problem-solving skills to troubleshoot any issues that may arise during the fabrication process.  
  • Strong communication skills.  
  • Willingness to continuously learn and adapt to new technologies and trends in the industry.  
  • Knowledge of safety procedures and ability to follow them.  
  • Ability to work in a team environment and alone.

NICE TO HAVE:
 
  • Experience in the RF shielding, electronics enclosure, or metal fabrication industry.
  • Experience with specialized materials such as brass, aluminum, stainless steel, or RF shielding materials. 
  • Knowledge of RF (radio frequency) or EMI shielding applications or fabrication methods. 
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing or 5S principles to improve efficiency and reduce waste. 
  • Forklift or overhead crane certification for material handling. 
  • Proactive problem-solving mindset — identifying process improvements or potential quality issues before they arise. 
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills — able to balance multiple fabrication projects. 
  • Experience working under ISO 9001 or similar quality management systems. 
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with engineering, QC, and project management teams. 
  • Background in custom or prototype fabrication. 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Cleaning & prepping duct vent frames / materials (cleaning frames and cutting steel Honeycomb)
  • Soldering material (Honeycomb) to duct vent frames, to shop fabrication drawing specifications
  • Cleaning, prepping, and painting duct vent frames (following shop manufacturing process instructions)
  • Follow proper QC procedures through the stages of vent manufacturing
  • Building skids / crates and packing finished products (Vents)
  • Cleaning and organizing facility between tasks and at the end of the day
  • Read manufacturing drawings, installation drawings, and Schematics
  • Paint various products, including duct vents, brass vents, and custom-fabricated materials
  • Maintain a clean and organized paint booth
  • Clean and maintain paint guns and related tools
  • Follow and uphold all health and safety standards for the paint booth
  • Recommend paint booth maintenance improvements and tooling best practices
