About the team you are joining

IATA's Sustainability Programs team works with airlines, regulators, and civil society to develop and implement policies, standards, and programs that support the sustainable development of air transport. 

This role sits at the intersection of sustainability with airline operations, regulatory frameworks, and commercial realities.

You will be responsible for identifying emerging ESG frameworks and sustainable finance opportunities within the aviation sector, while working in parallel with the Manager Sustainability to ensure work tasks are aligned and complementary. You are promoting better and aviation-adapted regulation in this area and supporting the implementation of solutions embedded in the Integrated Sustainability Program (ISP). You are expected to collaborate closely and seamlessly with the broader Sustainability Programs Team while supporting division-wide initiatives as part of our "One IATA” approach.

What your day would be like

•Identify, analyze, and interpret policy developments that impact airlines’ sustainable management and performance.
•Promote better aviation regulation and develop aviation-adapted frameworks.
•Support the development of aviation-specific ESG metrics through engagement with airline members, lessors, lenders, investors, sustainability reporting, and ratings agencies.
•Support programs and solutions that facilitate airlines’ sustainable management, such as the Integrated Sustainability Program (ISP). 
•Engage with sustainability ratings and sustainable procurement stakeholders to determine key areas where airline ESG performance can be better adapted and improved.
•Coordinate responses to public consultations within the greater division. 
•Develop appropriate response strategies, including stakeholder outreach, research, and preparation of briefing papers.
•Inform airlines of regulatory and policy developments and coordinate with other departments and our regional offices to strengthen our responsiveness to new developments.
•Represent the airlines’ interests in technical meetings, consultations, and industry events.
•Coordinate closely with other teams in the Sustainability and Economics Division—particularly those working on policy, advocacy, and economics—to ensure that efforts align with IATA’s overall sustainability strategy.


We would love to hear from you if

University degree in a relevant discipline: Sustainable Development. 
Demonstrable experience in sustainability programs, ideally within aviation or a similarly global and regulated industry
Detail-oriented, with strong time management and communication skills.
Good understanding of sustainability regulatory frameworks.
Familiar with sustainability management systems and frameworks (e.g., ISO, ESG reporting), and understand how they apply in an aviation context.
Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across diverse internal and external audiences.
High level of English written and oral communication skills
