The International Air Transport Association (IATA) represents
over 300 airlines, accounting for 83% of global air traffic. Within IATA, the
Cargo team plays a pivotal role in supporting the industry’s transformation
through digitalization, data-driven decision-making, and operational
efficiency.
Air cargo is a cornerstone of global trade, moving over $6
trillion worth of goods annually. Yet, the industry faces growing complexity:
fragmented data ecosystems, evolving safety and security regulations,
sustainability demands, and the need for greater supply chain visibility. To
address these, IATA is leading initiatives that leverage data science, digital
standards, and industry collaboration.
This
internship offers a unique opportunity to contribute to this transformation by
helping IATA and its members better understand and act on the data that
underpins air cargo operations and market dynamics.

Proactively detect data gaps that hinder understanding of market dynamics or regulatory impacts.
2. Data
Campaign Structuring
Design and propose data acquisition campaigns to fill identified gaps, including sourcing strategies, validation methods, and timelines.
Evaluate potential external data providers or partnerships to enrich IATA’s data ecosystem.
3. Stakeholder

Translate business questions into specific data requirements and sourcing strategies.
Present findings and proposals to stakeholders, articulating the value of new data.
4. Insight
Generation & Visualization
Collect, clean, and analyze structured and unstructured data using modern analytics tools.
Build models, dashboards, wireframes or mock-ups to visualize trends and explain the impact of key market factors (e.g., regulatory changes, trade disruptions).
Prepare clear, concise reports and presentations with data-driven recommendations.
5. Continuous
Learning & Contribution
Stay informed on trends in air cargo, data strategy, and global trade.
Actively contribute to team discussions and ongoing digital cargo initiatives.
