FS&I Stakeholder Manager

Salary:  £57,000 to £67,000

The Role

This is an opportunity to support Future Safety and Innovation (FSI) in delivering stakeholder engagement plans and managing relationships with senior stakeholders including government Directors and company CEOs. As FSI's first point of contact for new aviation market entrants, you'll manage dynamic stakeholders pursuing innovative aviation activities under significant financial pressures. Because much of our engagement is with organisations or individuals who are trying to do something in aviation that has never been done before, and may have significant external financial pressures acting on them there can be multiple opportunities for escalation both in and outside of the organisation which need to be carefully managed.

As FSI specialise in delivering new regulation and products to market, recently including the Market Surveillance Authority, Digitalising Specific Category Operations & Remote ID - we can be subject to a handing a substantial amount of correspondence and opportunities for industry escalation that require careful management.

Due to the dynamic and fast paced and interconnected nature of the FSI and SARG stakeholder team’s work, the successful applicant should expect to work across all of SARG, including such areas as Flight Ops, Airspace, Medical and Aerodromes.

This role will also play a critical part in ensuring our ICAO CE5 compliance under our obligation to the State Safety Plan as well as fulfilling obligations for our ISO 9001: 2015 Quality Management Accreditation. The successful applicant can expect to help deliver cross-SARG safety related education programmes, working closely with policy, sector, delivery and comms teams to ensure that safety related education and communications is both fit for purpose and measurable.

Core Accountabilities

• Managing FSI stakeholder engagement plan through events, workshops, newsletters, and industry meetings
• Coordinate stakeholder communications across FSI/SARG with the CAA Communications Team
• Provide regular stakeholder feedback analysis to FSI Management Team and senior leaders
• Handle ad-hoc stakeholder issues requiring quick resolution
• Develop and maintain key stakeholder relationships ensuring appropriate safety messaging
• Represent FSI at UK and international industry forums
• Support ICAO CE5 compliance and ISO 9001:2015 obligations
• Deliver cross-SARG safety education programmes

About You

Minimum essential requirements for the role:

• Degree or professional level qualification in stakeholder engagement, communications or policy.
• Experience in managing complex stakeholder engagement with multiple, varied stakeholders in high-pressure situation
• Extensive aviation experience across GA, CAT, ATC, Flight Ops, RPAS, eVTOL, HAPS, and emerging technologies. Alternative experience in technology innovation or government transport/innovation policy considered
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to engage and enthuse people across the organisation.
• Experience with policy documents, FOI responses, ministerial briefings, speeches, and stakeholder content

Desirable skills for the role:

• Cross-government stakeholder experience (DfT, Home Office, DSIT, Police, NPCC)
• Established senior stakeholder relationships and conflict resolution experience
• International aviation authority and industry forum experience
• Management systems and performance monitoring experience
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to influence at all levels
• Confident public speaking and presentation skills
• Understanding of service propositions and SLA management
• Experience with stakeholder models and ROI tracking for engagement campaigns

Additional Information

For many appointments within the CAA, these roles require access to operationally sensitive infrastructure and/or Nationally Protected information. For these roles the post holders must undergo National Security Vetting and achieve the appropriate level of clearance.

SC - To be vetted we will usually expect a reasonable period of residency in the UK so that meaningful checks can be undertaken. For this role this will need to be 5 years.

Relocation & Property

The CAA will be relocating from Aviation House (Our Gatwick Office) to new premises in a few years’ time. Our move is driven by strategic, operational and environmental considerations.

We will be moving to a new local home, up to a 15-mile radius of Aviation House, to minimise disruption for our valued colleagues and customers.

We are now working with colleagues and visitors to understand what we need in our new office, before we start our property search. We will sell Aviation House and land, vacate the site and move to new premises, but we do not expect to move before 2028
