Job Description Summary

The primary job purpose is to manage the core-planning framework for planning, scheduling and executing Facilities work promoting consistency and site wide integrated work planning & control across the Dowty facility.
As ongoing process owner, the position holder will ensure both efficient and effective planning and scheduling of Facilities work in all asset areas. They will work closely to the Dowty production planning team which will enable maximum plant availability.
The role holder will operate as the Maximo System Controller (CMMS) for the Facilities department and provide planning lead advice and assistance.
The role holder will also be responsible to raise Purchase orders for the department and track purchase orders raised

Job Description

Job Responsibilities

  • Working alongside Facilities team leads to manage an effective maintenance plan.

  • To liaise with operations management, shift leads, Facilities leads, production scheduler to ensure that planned maintenance activities are incorporated into the production schedule. Provide guidance for intrusive planned Facilities work so that it coincides with equipment availability and/or least disruptive opportunity

  • Responsible for creating and regularly updating a work plan for all PM's and the tracking and reporting of all work orders; planned and unplanned for the facilities team, generating relevant KPI's.

  • Develop and implement robust and simple processes to manage operational planning across Dowty teams. Where local systems and processes already exist either challenge or build upon these to ensure that these and improved processes deliver efficiency, effectiveness and consistency.

  • To own, operate and improve the planning framework for Facilities work planning, scheduling and control by.

    • Production of site wide maintenance performance measures for improving maintenance effectiveness and providing analysis where required on performance trends. These measures will ensure compliance to Global Maintenance best standards

    • Liaise and work with various stakeholders within the Dowty site, in order to ensure consistent application of the maintenance planning work processes.

  • To provide planning specialist expertise to local projects, to develop resource plans and create plans for more complex projects.

  • Actively contributes as a member of the Facilities Team

  • Applies Lean tools, e.g. Pareto, Process Mapping, ‘Waste’ elimination, Standardisation, etc in order to enhance effectiveness of delivery in facilities department

  • Taking an overview of the Maximo maintenance system and booking all contract resource needs for the Facilities and facilities team

  • As the Maximo Facilities System Controller, own and manage the CM/PM system for Dowty ensuring compliance through self-audits and assist as a Subject Matter Expert on planning and scheduling site lead for the Facilities team on external audits  

  • Work closely with other departments as required, to deliver a professional service which strives to exceed current standards and systems of maintenance for best practice. Manage your role, directing and prioritising your own approach and managing your effectiveness against set and measurable objectives, demonstrating a proactive approach to improvement.

  • As the role develops there will be an expectation that the planner will control contractors within the Dowty Site this will be the Booking in, Inductions and the Permit systems but this will be assisted by the Team Leads

  • Collate all pre- and post-maintenance requirements, work instructions, procedures, parts and material requirements, CMMS data and other supporting documentation that may be needed to develop the job scope and/or carry out the work activity.

  • Manage the work order system to include all the following as a minimum:

    • technical job details, including all applicable specifications, test points and measurements

    • sequence of steps

    • parts/ material requirements

    • any special tools/ equipment required

    • the number of craftsmen/ technicians required

    • manhours for each step

    • the overall time estimates for the job

    • target start/ completion dates

  • Work with the equipment owner and Facilities to create stores item numbers, determine stocking strategies, and attach the bills of materials (BOMs) to the Job Plans.

  • Raise Purchase Orders for all spares/contractor labour to allow the Task to be completed

  • Support and participate in all proactive analytical processes for maintenance plan development, such as RCM, and Root Cause Analysis process for continuous improvement.

Skills and experience

Essential

  • Significant (3+years’) relevant experience: specifically, a good understanding of: Maintenance and operations work & planning processes.

  • Strong PC skills Word, Excel, PowerPoint

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills together with excellent interpersonal skills are required.

  • Very strong analytical skills together with problem solving/decision making with associated ability for data gathering and generation, data analysis and creation of effective resulting communications.

  • Experience in CMMS

Desirable

•              Knowledge of Maintenance systems and working in a highly regulated industry

•              Understanding of Facilities equipment
