DescriptionAs a Duty Engineering Manager for our Hold Baggage Screening (HBS) team, you will supervise and support maintenance activities across a wide range of baggage handling equipment. You will play an important role in keeping our passengers safe and delivering the best airport service in the world. Our baggage technicians are quick thinking, proactive and skilled engineers, working with a range of screening and conveying equipment, to minimise security risks and ensure the smooth transportation of luggage.
Please note a full UK driving licence is required for this role and there is a 2 days, 2 nights, 4 days off shift pattern.
Responsibilities- Leading and mentoring a team of multi-skilled team of Technicians at Heathrow engineering professionals, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence.
- Creating an inclusive environment where safety, best practice and continuous improvement are championed.
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams to optimize airside operations and drive innovation.
- Engaging and coaching the team to continuously build their technical competence and broader skillset.
- Ensuring that assets are managed in line with maintenance plans through coordinating all engineering and facilities activities (such as maintenance and inspections) within a business unit.
Qualifications- City & Guilds/NVQ Level 3 in a recognised engineering discipline.
- Demonstrable analytical skills with sound problem-solving ability to address airside operational challenges.
- A drive to implement innovative solutions that enhance efficiency and safety.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively liaise with various stakeholders.
- Profound knowledge of airside operations and engineering principles.
- Ability to lead and inspire a team of engineers and technicians.
Ideally you will also have:
- IOSH certificate in Managing Safety
