Role Profile:

We are seeking a motivated, proactive individual for a Communications & Marketing Co-op Student role at Halifax International Airport Authority. The successful candidate will work directly with the Marketing, Communications and Customer Experience Department to deliver effective communications and marketing initiatives that support the organization’s strategic goals. 

With strong oral and written communication skills, strategic and analytical thinking, and a high degree of initiative and creativity, this candidate will have the opportunity to work on: 

  • Developing and implementing communications plans
  • Event planning and execution 
  • Developing and distributing the daily internal media newsletter
  • Drafting and designing content for corporate channels, including social media, the external newsletter, the website, and the employee intranet
  • Writing and publishing employee profiles
  • Photography and managing the photo library
  • Crafting messages for media relations
  • Preparing and contributing to speeches and presentations for senior leaders
  • Other projects as appropriate

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Enrolled in Public Relations, Marketing or Tourism 
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing in English, with French considered a strong asset
  • Experience creating and editing content for various audiences and purposes
  • Must be solutions and detail-oriented, and resourceful in exploring new ideas
  • Ability to function independently and as a member of a team 
  • Experience in social media monitoring and strategy, developing and executing communications plans
  • Must possess exceptional networking skills
  • Ability to learn and apply new skills and knowledge
  • Ability to develop and maintain strategic working relationships with internal/external stakeholders 
  • Adapt to rapidly changing project requirements and deliverables 
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office and online platforms including X, Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram and YouTube. 
  • Experience using digital design, email marketing, and media monitoring tools is considered an asset, including but not limited to platforms such as Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, Cyberimpact, Hootsuite, and WordPress.

DETAILS:

  • Rate of Pay $21.00 per hour plus 4% vacation pay
  • Monday-Friday 37.5 hours per week
  • Complimentary employee parking
  • Commencing May 4, 2026, to August 21, 2026
