Job Description Summary

Systems engineering is a cross-functional engineering discipline centered on an approach, mindset, and process. All activities that consider both the business and the technical needs of the customers with the goal of providing a quality product that meets the users needs.

This is a combined systems integration and fleet engineering role, located in China supporting the CF34-10A program. The role will support the C909 aircraft production line by acting as a liaison between the customer and our suppliers; representing GE. Hardware focus area is the nacelle, thrust reverser and flight inlet, including interface components between the engine and the airframe.

The role also has fleet engineering responsibilities, where candidate will lead field containment and resolution of field problems, develop field plans for product deficiencies and improvements, and provide real-time field dispositions and recommendations to end customers on a day to day basis. Candidate will work with supplier fleet teams, coordinating service bulletins, communications and technical dispositions for emerging issues.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Conducts component and product integration. All activities that span multiple components and products and are concerned with how to integrate for maximum performance, robustness and reliability.
  • Lead product improvements among GE, COMAC and our suppliers - acting as a liaison and ensuring that GE meets requirements for new designs, both in Part 25 and 33 realms.
  • Has in-depth knowledge of best practices for nacelles, thrust reversers and airframe integration. Has experience working with suppliers; has working knowledge of competition and the factors that differentiate them in the market
  • Responds to findings or problems on the aircraft final assembly line and coordinate solutions between GE and suppliers.
  • Lead resolution of field problems from both systems and fleet engineering perspectives, observing and understanding problems, brainstorming corrective actions.
  • Participate with teams to develop fleet actions for emerging problems. Owns responsibility for maintaining instructions for continued airworthiness (ICA) which includes service bulletins, and engine/nacelle maintenance manuals.
  • Exercise sound judgement when developing fleet plans – balancing speed according to SQDC (safety, quality, delivery and cost).
  • Develop strong working relationships with end customer, colleagues and suppliers, with the ability to communicate clearly and appropriately.
  • Advocates for customer design change approvals and develops strategies to gain approval; leads responses to customer queries about proposed changes.

Required Qualifications

  • This role requires significant experience in the Engineering/Technology, Systems Engineering or Fleet Engineering. Knowledge level is comparable to a Master's degree from an accredited university or college ( or a high school diploma with relevant experience).
