We're Hiring: Backend Systems Engineer – Mission Software & Cloud Connectivity
Full time | Core team
LAT Aerospace | Perception & Autonomy
At LAT Aerospace, we’re building India’s first clean-sheet hybrid-electric STOL aircraft and a next-generation autonomy stack powering aircraft for complex missions. Our team is kicking off a new chapter — developing the full flight-control, obstacle-avoidance, GNSS-denied navigation, and swarm-coordination layers that will define LAT’s autonomy architecture.
We’re hiring a Backend Systems Engineer to build the high-performance backend that powers LAT’s mission-control stack.
What you’ll do
Design and develop backend services for mission planning, swarm management, telemetry ingestion, and real-time operator tools.
Optimize real-time video streaming pipelines — transcoding, adaptive bitrate, low-latency transport, failover, and bandwidth efficiency.
Build and maintain robust APIs and data services for mission software, ensuring high throughput and low-latency performance.
Implement communication protocols for drone ↔ ground ↔ cloud data exchange; handle unreliable links, reconnect logic, and packet prioritization.
Architect scalable backend infrastructure to support multi-drone missions, swarm telemetry aggregation, and perception outputs.
Integrate mission software with cloud services for logging, long-term storage, analytics, and real-time monitoring.
Ensure backend reliability through observability tooling, metrics, tracing, and automatic recovery mechanisms.
What we're looking for
Strong experience building backend systems using Node.js, Python, Go, or similar languages.
Deep understanding of real-time communication, streaming protocols (WebRTC, RTSP, RTP, SRT, gRPC, WebSockets), or low-latency data transport.
Experience designing scalable REST or event-driven architectures and distributed systems.
Familiarity with AWS and deploying production-grade backend services.
Strong knowledge of databases, caching, message queues, and optimizing high-throughput systems.
Ability to diagnose complex backend issues using logs, traces, profilers, and observability tools.
Why LAT?
Core-team role building the autonomy brain of India’s most ambitious aerospace startup.
Ownership, speed, and the opportunity to define a new class of systems from scratch.
