The Air Navigation Bureau (ANB) in ICAO is responsible for providing technical guidance to the Air Navigation Commission (ANC), the Council and the Assembly. The Air Navigation Bureau provides technical expertise in aviation-related disciplines to States, industry and all elements of the Organization. The Bureau is also responsible for maintaining and implementing the Global Aviation Safety Plan (GASP) and Global Air Navigation Plan (GANP), including its aviation system block upgrades as well as producing yearly safety and air navigation status reports. The Bureau develops technical studies and proposals for Standards and Recommended Practices (SARPs), and Procedures for Air Navigation Services (PANS) for further processing by the governing bodies of ICAO. The Bureau also develops related procedures and guidance material. It also manages the Universal Safety Oversight Audit Programme (USOAP) and Continuous Monitoring Approach (CMA) that monitors all States on a continuous basis.
The Accident Investigation (AIG) Section of ANB leads the development of global standards for aircraft accident and incident investigation. It ensures the continuous improvement of safety practices by managing the ADREP/ECCAIRS2 database, supporting international investigations, and contributing to ICAO’s broader safety initiatives. The section also provides expert guidance, training, and coordination with States to enhance global aviation safety and investigative capabilities.
The intern will work under the overall supervision of the Chief, AIG (C/AIG). Day-to-day training, guidance, and task direction will be provided by the Senior Programme Associate, 3LD/ADREP and IBIS. The intern will support the management and maintenance of the ICAO ADREP/ECCAIRS2 database, a critical tool for global aviation safety data collection and analysis.

At the time of application, candidates are required to have completed or be enrolled in a graduate degree programme (second-level university degree or higher) in a field of study related to aviation, aviation Safety, or related field.
Applicants pursuing studies in countries where higher education is not divided into undergraduate and graduate stages should have completed at least four years of full-time studies at a university or equivalent institution towards the completion of a degree.
Essential requirements: Fluent reading, writing and speaking abilities in English.
Desirable requirements: A working knowledge of a second language of the Organization (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish).
Interns are not paid. All costs related to travel, insurance, accommodation, and living expenses must be borne by the intern.
The duration of the internship is between two to six months. The intern is expected to work five days a week, on a full-time basis.
Interns shall not be eligible to be engaged in any other form of employment within ICAO during the period of internship and shall not be eligible to apply for or be appointed to any post in the Secretariat or be contracted for any other remunerated employment with ICAO for the six months immediately following the end of their internship.
