About the Department of Aviation

The aviation program is growing, moving into a new hangar in August 2025. Mount Royal University’s Aviation diploma program has been in operation since 1970, and the Bachelor of Aviation Management began in 2024, with options for a Flight Operations Concentration which includes flight training, or an Aviation Operations Concentration. The program operates 10 aircraft at Springbank Airport and have plans to increase the fleet size. Flight Training students can graduate with a Commercial Pilot Licence and Group 1 Instrument Rating, with an option for some students to complete a Flight Instructor Rating.

About the Role

Mount Royal University Aviation is looking to expand its team of professional and experienced flight instructors, as we are increasing our student intake numbers for the Diploma program.  We offer high quality instruction to students seeking a career in the aviation industry. Our flight instructors not only teach in the aircraft, but also in the simulator, and occasionally  ground school classes as well.  All instructors will be expected to teach lessons from PPL through to Multi-IFR, once they are appropriately trained, and to have some administrative responsibilities in addition to working on the flight line.  We employ our instructors on a full-time (40 hours/week), salaried basis. We are open 7 days a week, year-round with flight operations normally scheduled from 0730 until 0030. The successful candidate for this position can expect to work evenings and/or  weekends, with a possibility to change schedules in January.

The Assistant Chief Flight Instructor (ACFI) will support the Chief Flight Instructor.
