Canadian Base Operators’ Meaford team is growing! If you are a committed and collaborative professional looking to contribute to a hard-working, innovative team, this opportunity is for you. The Alert Room Operator position is located in Meaford at the 4th Canadian Division Training Centre. This position monitors the Alert Room and various alarm systems under the direction of the Site Manager. This Alert Room requires shift work due to being manned 24 hours a day/7 days a week.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Monitoring the alarm systems and initiating appropriate actions in response to alarms by following the laid down procedures and contacting appropriate individuals/organizations.
  • Alarms include, Fire, critical system monitoring such as power outages, Water treatment and Wastewater treatment system alerts, intrusion alarms.

• Answering phone enquiries/ Act as 911 operator for the base.
• Communicating with Range Control, Military Police/Fire Services by radio
• Issue and return of keys and range passes
• General enquiries from visitors to the base
• Other duties as assigned

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

• High school Diploma or equivalent

The following certifications/designations are considered an asset:

• Knowledge of DND policies and procedures

WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

2 or more years’ experience in the following would be considered an asset:

• Former military or security experience

SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Proficient knowledge and understanding of:

• Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and Teams

• Effective written and verbal communication skills

• Excellent interpersonal skills

• Ability to work independently and with minimal direction

• Must possess valid drivers license

*Must be able to achieve and maintain a Government of Canada Security Clearance*
