Airside Drivers Assistant - Full Time

Aviation recruitment experts Optime Group are proud to be recruiting Airside Drivers Assistants on behalf of a leading in-flight services business based near Gatwick Airport.

This is a ground-based logistics support role working across two sites: Manor Royal and Gatwick Airport.

Although it’s not a driving job, you’ll need a Full UK Driving Licence to support occasional vehicle runs involving stock transfers or last-minute uplifts.

What’s on offer:

• £14.27 per hour (plus holiday pay & pension)
• 5 on 3 off shift pattern (subject to change)
• 9.5-hour shifts between 03:00 and 20:00
• Shift extensions available

• Weekly pay (every Friday)
• Temp-to-perm opportunity (based on performance)

 Key duties:

• Assist with preparing, moving and loading in-flight catering and bar equipment
• Handle and move equipment weighing up to 23kg
• Support drivers with safe, timely delivery of airline stock
• Help transfer goods between vehicle and aircraft with airline crew
• Occasionally drive smaller vehicles to move additional stock between sites
• Work across both airside and non-airside environments
• Operate safely and efficiently in a busy, time-sensitive setting
• Work collaboratively with the wider logistics team
• Carry out tasks in varying weather conditions and at height
• Perform vehicle security searches in line with CAA and DfT standards
• Please note: Duties may vary depending on operational requirements

What we’re looking for:

• Airline catering experience (1 year, preferable)
• Full UK Driving Licence (max 3 points)
• Team players with a flexible, hands-on approach
• Strong communication skills and attention to detail
• Able to meet deadlines in a fast-moving environment
• Comfortable working outdoors and at height
• Confident with basic English and numeracy
