The Aircraft Maintenance Technician – Avionics performs installation, inspection, maintenance, repair, testing, troubleshooting, and fabrication of avionics systems and components in accordance with approved data, Transport Canada regulations, and Aircraft Maintenance Organization (AMO) procedures. The role supports the continued airworthiness of aircraft, ensures accurate technical records and traceability, complies with the Safety Management System (SMS), and contributes to a safe, compliant, and efficient maintenance and production environment.   Roles and Responsibilities Perform aircraft maintenance activities including installation, repair, maintenance, assembly, troubleshooting, testing, and fabrication of avionics systems and components in accordance with approved data, manufacturer instructions, CARs, and AMO procedures. Carry out maintenance tasks under the supervision of an appropriately authorized and licensed AME, when required, in a production or maintenance environment. Assemble and fabricate parts using drawings, task cards, work instructions, and approved technical data, ensuring compliance with configuration control and traceability requirements. Complete assigned tasks and, where trained and authorized, perform verification inspections in accordance with AMO procedures. Ensure all technical records, task cards, and maintenance documentation are completed accurately, legibly, and in accordance with regulatory and company requirements. Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area in compliance with human factors, safety, and 5S standards. Support the training and mentoring of junior personnel as assigned, in accordance with AMO and competency requirements. Report defects, non-conformances, hazards, incidents, and deviations through the SMS reporting system in a timely manner. Identify and communicate opportunities for continuous improvement, including documentation discrepancies, process inefficiencies, and safety concerns. Apply established safety, human factors, and quality practices to ensure continued airworthiness and regulatory compliance. Disassemble, inspect, assess, and recommend repairs for aircraft parts and components in accordance with approved data. Maintain accurate part identification, configuration, and traceability for components removed from or installed on aircraft. Support production and maintenance objectives by using resources efficiently and proactively addressing risks to schedule, quality, and safety. Certify maintenance tasks performed, when authorized, within the scope of the AMO and applicable privileges. Operate ground support equipment (e.g., power carts, lifts) safely and in accordance with training, authorization, and safety procedures.   Education Required Hold a valid Transport Canada AME “E” license or be eligible to obtain the license in accordance with CARs.   Experience, Skills, and Competencies Demonstrated experience in aircraft avionics wiring repair, fabrication, installation, and modification. Ability to interpret and apply maintenance manuals, service bulletins, wiring diagrams, schematics, and engineering orders. Working knowledge of aircraft standard practices and regulatory requirements related to avionics maintenance. Basic understanding of aircraft systems, including hydraulics, flight controls, and major aircraft assemblies. Competence in completing technical documentation and electronic record systems. Strong attention to detail with an understanding of human factors, safety reporting, and compliance obligations. Effective communication skills and the ability to follow written and verbal instructions.   Assets 3 to 5 years of experience working on De Havilland Aircraft of Canada aircraft is considered an asset.
