Your mission:
An internship opportunity titled : «Synthesis of aircraft parts transportation vibrations measurements » has just opened at Airbus Opérations SAS - Design Office, based in Toulouse, France.
You will join the department in charge of Flight & Integration Tests.
Several test measurement campaigns were performed at Airbus Operations Test Center in recent years to monitor the transportation of aircraft parts or sub-components between Airbus sites. New routes and transportation means are being developed by Airbus transport teams either to support its industrial ramp-up or to reduce its carbon footprint. The main objective of the tests was to evaluate the general vibrations and shocks observed throughout the journey in order to identify excessive levels that could potentially damage the carried items.
The study involves collaboration with Airbus environmental qualification design office and potentially transport / logistics teams.
An additional small-scale test campaign could be launched in the frame of the internship if required.
This internship of a 5 months’ duration will start in April 2026.
This position requires a security clearance or requires to be eligible for clearance by recognized authorities.
Your main mission will consist in building a synthesis of the available test campaigns and in going deeper into the analysis in terms of fatigue damage undergone by the carried load.
This synthesis will be elaborated progressively according to the steps outlined below:
Bibliography on transportation vibrations monitoring and fatigue damage spectrum methodology
Synthesis of available data on different types of transportation (truck, rail, ship, Beluga, …) taking into account the various measurement characteristics.
Fatigue evaluation of typical transportation routes, and comparison to equipment qualification standards and in-flight exposure along aircraft life
Recommendation for future transport monitoring use-cases
